A meditation timer with a widget to help motivate you to meditate regularly.
This is a brand new version of Meditation Helper - see my other app listings for the older versions. It is an almost complete re-write, an attempt to make the application simpler to use, yet more powerful.Any feature in Meditation Helper Pro is now available for free in MH+. The only features I will charge for are those that dont already exist in Meditation Helper Pro.Core Features (free to use)------------------------------------* Multiple sitting configurations* Can have different sounds for different interval bells* Configure actions to execute during the sitting, including: * Ring a bell (3 bell sounds included) * Play an MP3 track * Additional actions are available for subscribers.* Toggle to keep phone awake during sitting* Toggle to keep phone silent during sitting* Toggle to keep phone unlocked during sitting* Toggle to vibrate phone instead of ringing bells* Record a comment for a sitting in the sitting log* Can have multiple widgets on the home screen, with each widget having a different associated reminder, start of day time etc* Can configure the widget colour* Add reminders without a widget.Additional Feature for Subscribers------------------------------------* Execute Tasker task action (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm)* Display a notification with configurable message and notification sound* Display a random message from Nom (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.multiordinal.nom)* Text to Speech action - have a custom phrase spoken to you during sitting (TTS also available with Nom action)* Send broadcast when sitting starts/pauses/resumes/ends (for e.g. Automagic).* Request prompt to rate your sitting when it ends.Widget------------------------------------The widget is my implementation of Jerry Seinfelds productivity secret (http://lifehacker.com/281626/jerry-seinfelds-productivity-secret):------------------------------------"He said the way to be a better comic was to create better jokes and the way to create better jokes was to write every day. But his advice was better than that. He had a gem of a leverage technique he used on himself and you can use it to motivate yourself—even when you dont feel like it.He revealed a unique calendar system he uses to pressure himself to write. Heres how it works. He told me to get a big wall calendar that has a whole year on one page and hang it on a prominent wall. The next step was to get a big red magic marker. He said for each day that I do my task of writing, I get to put a big red X over that day. "After a few days youll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. Youll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain.""Dont break the chain," he said again for emphasis."------------------------------------The chain in this case is the number of consecutive days that you have hit your meditation target. The widget displays both the current chain, and the longest ever chain. Having this on my home screen motivates me to meditate every day. Your mileage may vary.Fixed issue with clone sittings. Swiping to close activity now no longer stops the session (consistent with the way other timers work). Possible fix for missing presets, with additional logging in case it doesnt work.
Normal technical timing and statistics app. No McMindfulness w/ MacSauceMcDub sauce.
Just like so many other application developers, they think it improves but instead it becomes over engineered. This is still good but has become worse. It's become harder to use since the first version.
Not nearly as user friendly as the older version of this app was I'm disappointed
I have used this app for many years, it's great!
definitely enjoy this app - just wish it was also available on i0s
Unfortunately when I installed the app my audio all together completely stopped videos on YouTube will play but with no sound YouTube music played but with no sound my downloaded MP3s in my music player would play but with no sound when I deleted the meditation helper all my sound came back so basically use this app unless you don't want to have any sound from your phone
I like this app a lot. It allows me to configure my meditation sitting in multiple ways. I have used it for interval training too. There is only one issue with this app - there is no feature to backup and restore sessions and settings. This feature was there in the old version of the app. Would the developer consider adding this feature?
Overall very good, but there are a few glitches and the developer is no longer responsive. Feels like an orphaned product, even for paid users.
I've been using this app going on ten years and it's my all time favorite app! I use it to motivate, facilitate and track my meditation, yoga, breath work and exercise practices. I currently have exactly 36 different custom sessions to choose from depending on what I'm doing. This app has never given me any problems that I can remember, maybe a minor glitch or 2 in ten years. Thanks Mr. Neil!
I used to love the old version of this app and upgraded to pro. The new app is unnecessarily complicated and buggy. Bells don't go off when they're supposed to (they're delayed sometimes) and the widget doesn't load at start up. There is an open spot where the widget is supposed to appear on my homepage and I can't move anything there, as the phone registers that it's there, but it doesn't show. This is on Android 9.
